What is Flat/Small Buttock?

A flat or small buttock refers to a less prominent or less rounded shape in the buttock area, which may lack the projection and fullness often associated with a 'peachy' or lifted look. An ideal peachy buttock typically has a round full, and lifted appearance, with defined curves that add proportion to the body. Some patients may seek a fuller or more contoured look to enhance their figure and achieve a balanced silhouette.

Symptoms of Flat/Small Buttock:

  • Lack of projection or roundness in the buttocks area.

  • Minimal curvature or definition between the buttocks, waist, and thighs.

  • Imbalance in body proportions, where buttocks may appear underdeveloped or less prominent compared to the hips, thighs, or upper body.

Causes of Flat/Small Buttock:

  1. Genetics and Bone Structure: Some people naturally have a flatter or smaller buttock shape due to their skeletal structure and muscle distribution.

  2. Muscle Atrophy or Low Muscle Mass: Lack of muscle development in the gluteal muscles, particularly the gluteus maximus, can lead to a flatter appearance.

  3. Sedentary Lifestyle: Sitting for extended periods can weaken and flatten the gluteal muscles over time.

  4. Fat Distribution: For some people, genetic factors or body type determine where fat is stored, which can result in less fat accumulation in the buttocks area.

Flat/Small Buttock Treatment Option:

Option 1: Botulinum toxin injections are not typically used to increase volume in the buttocks, as this treatment is more commonly associated with relaxing muscles rather than enhancing size or fullness. However, in certain cases, botulinum toxin can be used strategically to achieve an aesthetic lift or contour in the following ways:

  • Muscle Relaxation and Lift Effect: Botulinum toxin injections can help relax specific areas of the gluteus maximus and surrounding muscles, which may allow the buttocks to appear lifted. This approach is often used to improve posture and enhance the natural curvature without adding volume.

  • Correcting Muscle Imbalance: By targeting specific sections of the gluteal muscles, botulinum toxin may help reshape or recontour the area, making it appear more rounded. This technique can be especially useful if the buttocks are asymmetrical or if certain muscles are overactive and contribute to a flatter appearance.

Results are typically shown in 2 weeks and last 4-6 months.
